Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Farewatch, a fare-monitoring service operated by Fare-Watch, PO Box 123, Dublin, Ireland. By subscribing you agree to them. Please read section 4 and section 7 carefully — they set out what the service does and does not promise.

01

What Farewatch does

Farewatch monitors the price of a flight booking you tell us about. Each day we reprice the same itinerary and compare it against what was paid. When the fare falls and the ticket's own fare rules allow a rebooking at the lower price, we identify the opportunity and — on consumer plans — contact the airline to request it.

Farewatch can also monitor a hotel booking that has free cancellation. Each day we check the listed price of the same stay; when it falls, we tell you so you can book the lower rate and cancel the original within its free-cancellation window. We never cancel or book anything on your behalf — you make both bookings yourself, and you are responsible for checking the new rate's terms before cancelling.

We are an independent service. We are not an airline, not a hotel or booking platform, not a travel agent acting for you unless separately agreed, and not affiliated with or endorsed by any airline, hotel or booking site.

02

Subscription plans and pricing

  • Traveller plan — £10 per month. For individuals monitoring their own bookings.
  • Agency plan — £650 per month. For ARC/IATA-accredited travel agencies monitoring client bookings. Includes a 14-day free trial.

Prices are in pounds sterling and include any applicable VAT unless stated otherwise at checkout. We may change prices on 30 days' notice to you; a change takes effect at your next renewal, and you may cancel before then.

03

Billing, renewal and cancellation

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically on the same day each month until cancelled. Payment is taken by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your card details.

To cancel: use the billing portal linked in your dashboard, or email [email protected] from your account address. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Monitoring continues until then and stops at renewal.

If the agency plan is cancelled during the 14-day free trial, no charge is taken.

04

Refunds and your right to cancel

Because we begin monitoring as soon as you submit a booking, you are asking us to start the service immediately. Under EU distance-selling rules you keep a 14-day right to withdraw from your first subscription period; if you withdraw after monitoring has begun, we may charge for the portion of the month already provided.

Outside that 14-day window we do not refund part-months. If you cancel mid-cycle the service runs to the end of the period you paid for and is not pro-rated.

If we charge you in error, or the service is unavailable for a sustained period through our fault, contact us and we will refund the affected period.

05

Success fee on recovered value

On the traveller plan, where we recover value for you, we charge a success fee of 10% of the recovered value above £100. The first £100 we recover for you is always yours in full, and recoveries at or below £100 carry no fee at all. For bookings made in another currency, the fee and its threshold apply in the booking's own currency — US$100 for USD bookings, €100 for EUR, ¥15,000 for JPY — and we never convert between currencies to calculate a fee. Where a booking is in a currency we have not published a threshold for, no success fee is charged.

For example, on a £710 recovery the fee is 10% of £610 — that is £61, leaving you £649.

The fee is calculated on the value the airline actually issues, not on the fare difference we detect. It is invoiced separately after the airline confirms the credit, and is payable within 14 days. No fee is due if no recovery is made.

The success fee does not apply to the agency plan, which is charged on a flat monthly basis.

06

Hotel rebooking tip

Hotel monitoring carries no subscription charge of its own. Where you rebook a monitored hotel stay at a lower price on our alert, we charge a rebooking tip of 10% of the saving above £50. The first £50 you save is always yours in full, and savings at or below £50 carry no tip at all. The threshold applies in the booking's own currency — US$50 for USD bookings, €50 for EUR, ¥7,500 for JPY — and we never convert between currencies to calculate a tip. Where a booking is in a currency we have not published a threshold for, no tip is charged.

The tip is calculated on the saving you report to us after rebooking, never on the price difference we detected. If you tell us the rebooking did not work out, or you report nothing, no tip is due. It is invoiced separately and payable within 14 days.

07

What we do not promise

Recovered value is issued by the airline as travel credit against a future booking. It is not a cash refund, and we cannot convert it to cash.

Whether anything can be recovered on a given ticket depends entirely on that ticket's fare rules, which are set by the airline and not by us. In particular:

  • Basic Economy and equivalent restricted fares are generally excluded.
  • Airlines differ. The major US carriers publish rebooking policies that commonly allow this; other carriers, including British Airways and the European airlines, set their own rules and many do not permit it.
  • Airlines may change their fare rules at any time, including after you subscribe.
  • Credits typically expire, often twelve months from the original ticket issue date.
  • A fare may drop and still produce no recoverable value once change fees and fare differences are applied.
  • Hotel prices we show are the cheapest listed rate for the same stay on the sources we check. That rate may be a different room type, rate plan or cancellation policy from yours, may change or sell out before you rebook, and may be sold by a different provider. Always verify the new rate’s terms before cancelling an existing booking; if you cancel first and the lower rate is gone, we are not responsible for the difference.

We therefore do not guarantee that any saving will be found, that any claim will succeed, or that a subscription will pay for itself. We provide monitoring and claim filing, not a guaranteed outcome.

08

Your responsibilities

  • Give us accurate booking details. We monitor what you tell us; wrong details produce wrong results.
  • Only submit bookings you are entitled to act on — your own, or, on the agency plan, those your agency holds.
  • Keep access to your account secure. We sign you in by emailed link, so anyone with access to your inbox can access your account.

We will never ask for your airline account password, frequent-flyer PIN or any other airline login credential, and you should never send one to us. We have no facility to store them.

09

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — including your statutory rights as a consumer, which these terms do not affect.

Subject to that, our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the subscription fees you paid us in that period. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for airline decisions, for fare movements, or for credits that expire unused.

10

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service at any time by cancelling. We may suspend or close an account that is used unlawfully, that submits bookings the user has no right to act on, or where fees remain unpaid after notice. If we close your account without cause, we will refund the unused portion of the period you paid for.

11

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel before then. The date at the top of this page shows the current version.

12

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country.

Questions about these terms: [email protected], or write to Fare-Watch, PO Box 123, Dublin, Ireland.
